Rangers Crowned as Champions for 2nd Straight Year

TEWKSBURY, MA -- The EHL Elite team won the EHL Elite division title on Sunday against the Bridgewater Bandits to cap off another championship season!  They faced the Bandits in a best of 3 series, but only needed to first 2 games to complete the sweep by scores of 4-1 and 5-1.  The series MVP went to goaltender Mike Paglucca who played fantastic throughout all of the playoffs allowing only 7 goals in 4 games played.  Forwards Mike McPherson and Johnny Andrews both reached the 100 point plateau in the final game of the season setting the franchise record.  The line of McPherson, Andrews, and Kuznetsov combined for almost 300 points this year.

"We are extremely proud of what this team accomplished this year!" said coach Rich DeCaprio.  "The guys really gelled in the locker room and they were totally selfless and sacrificed a lot achieve our ulitmate goal of winning another championship."  Although listed as the head coach of both Premier and Elite teams, coach DeCaprio says his Assistant Coach Ryan Blair really took the team to the top this year.  "In October, it became clear to me what kind of coach Ryan is and I felt comfortable in him becoming the head coach of that team. I think it was in early November that I told the team that Ryan, over the next month or so, would take the reigns of the Elite team because I had a lot of other responsibilities with the Premier team, and conflicting schedules didn't allow me to attend a lot of the Elite games.  Blairsy did a phenomenal job with the guys.  He is a great coach and I am thankful for having him here with our organization!"

The Elite team ended the season with a record of 37-7-2.  They have a combined record of 147-35-13 in its first 4 years as a program.  They have 2 league championships and 4 trips to the finals.
