Rangers Premier Team Set for Final Showcase

TEWKSBURY, MA -- It's a busy week for the Boston Jr. Rangers, with five games combined between the two teams. The Premier team has four matchups, with three games taking place at the MLK Day Showcase in Hooksett, New Hampshire. The 19U Elite team has only one game on the schedule this week, also at Tri-Town Ice Arena.

"This is a big week for our teams," said Rangers Premier head coach Rich Decaprio. "The Premier guys have a good test ahead with four games, all against Central Division [South Conference] opponents. The 19U Elite squad only has one game, and it comes against a very good opponent. The Monarchs have won four straight and are rolling lately."

PREMIER PREVIEW

After this past Saturday's game was postponed, the Rangers and Wolfpack quickly rescheduled their game for later this morning at 11:30am. As the Rangers return from winter break, they bring with them a six-game winning streak, and hopefully some momentum from December.

Following Wednesday's game, the Rangers play on all three days at the MLK Day Showcase.

  • Sunday, January 15th - New York Applecore (10:10am)
  • Monday, January 16th - Hartford Jr. Wolfpack (2:40pm)
  • Tuesday, January 17th - Connecticut Oilers (10:20am)

The Rangers beat the Applecore 4-2 in December, and lost to the Oilers 5-2 in October.

19U ELITE PREVIEW

The 19U Elite team also brings a winning streak with them into 2017, as they look to make it three wins in a row on Friday night in New Hampshire. The Monarchs have won the first three matchups with the Rangers, two of which were decided in overtime/shootout. This is the last regular season matchup between the two teams this season.

"The guys are excited for Friday night," said Rangers 19U Elite head coach Ryan Blair. "We added three guys to the roster, who will bring some more pop to the lineup. The two forwards will play on our top lines, while the defenseman will be one of our top three on the point."
