Premier Splits Pair of Games, Elite Team Continues to Battle

TEWKSBURY, MA -- Another week in the books and both Rangers teams have reached the final week of the regular season. This past week was a step back in the right direction for the Premier team, while the Elite team struggled in their three games.

"We're not playing our best hockey of the season, but there is still time for us to the crank it up," said Premier head coach Rich DeCaprio. "We've got two games left for the Premier team, and three games left for the Elite team. The goals are clear. The Premier team has a chance to secure the #3 seed in the North Conference, while the Elite team can close the gap and get into the playoffs with the last spot in their respective conference."

PREMIER RECAP

After alternating between hot and cold all January and February, this past week for the Rangers began in New Hampshire against the Northern Cyclones.

WEDNESDAY 2/22 - 60 minutes wasn't enough to decide a winner this past Wednesday, as the Cyclones picked up a crucial point by way of a 3-2 shootout victory. Mike McPherson and Tyler Gardiner had the two goals for the Rangers. Sean Kuhn played well in net again, stopping 29 of 31 shots he faced.

SUNDAY 2/26 - The Rangers got a few days to regroup and reset before their matchup with the Wolves on Sunday. After dropping their last matchup with the Wolves, the Rangers left no doubt this time around. Neither team found the back of the net in the 1st period, and then the Rangers took off with five goals in the next 40 minutes. Four different players scored for the Rangers, as McPherson buried a pair goals. Nolan Egbert made 20 saves for the Rangers between the pipes, as the home team rolled to a 5-1 win.

19U ELITE

The Rangers began the week just a single point out of the playoffs, and luckily, they ended the week in the same exact spot.

WEDNESDAY 2/22 - After handling the Warriors the last time out, Valley turned the tables on the Rangers on Wednesday. A four-goal 3rd period for the Warriors erased the Rangers 3-1 lead, and Valley took him a 6-3 victory. Ben Parker did all he could between the pipes making 37 saves.

SATURDAY 2/25 and 2/26 - The weekend brought the Rangers a chance to bounce back with a home-and-home series against the New England Wolves. Unfortunately for the Rangers, they dropped the first game 4-1 and the 2nd game 5-4 in a shootout.

Luckily now, the Rangers they still have three games left, and are just one point behind the Walpole Express for the 6th and final seed in the North Conference playoffs. The Rangers also have two games in hand on the Express.
