Rangers Teams Lock Up Playoff Seeds

TEWKSBURY, MA -- The regular season is officially complete, and both Rangers teams are heading to the playoffs. The Premier team earned the #3 seed in the North Conference and a matchup with the Vermont Lumberjacks. The 19U Elite team got into the playoffs with the final spot in their conference, and they will now play a first round game tomorrow night against the Boston Bandits.

"It's been an up and down season for both teams," said Premier head coach Rich DeCaprio. "Each team got hot and got cold on a few different occasions throughout the season, but when it mattered most, we did what we had to do in order to get into the playoffs."

PREMIER RECAP

After a few average weeks, the Rangers Premier team finished the regular season with a pair of solid victories.

WEDNESDAY 3/1 - The first game of the week brought with it a key matchup against the Northern Cyclones. It was known ahead of time that the winner of Wednesday's game would likely end up with the #3 seed, while the loser would probably settle for the #4 seed. With this in the back of their minds, the Rangers controlled the play from start to finish, picking up a big 4-1 victory at home. Johnny Andrews led the offensive attack with a pair of goals and an assist.

SUNDAY 3/5 - With the #3 seed finalized, and their first round opponent confirmed, Sunday's game against the East Coast Wizards had no impact on the standings. Despite the situation, the Rangers maintained their focus throughout, skating away with a 7-5 win. Blake Bride was a key part of the offensive attack with four assists in the game, while Henry Cormier and Brendan Boyle each tallied a pair of goals in the win.

19U ELITE RECAP

The Rangers week begin on Tuesday, and the team had a clear picture of what was in front of them. They were one point behind the Walpole Express for the 6th and final playoff spot, and they had two games in hand on their conference rival.

TUESDAY 2/28 - In arguably one of the most exciting games of the season, the Rangers fought back from a 5-2 deficit to pick up a huge 7-6 victory by way of a shootout. Six different players tallied points in the win over the New England Wolves.

FRIDAY 3/3 - Move over to Friday and the Rangers were now ahead of the Express in the standings. A win over the Hartford Jr. Wolfpack would clinch a playoff spot, and the team delivered. Pat Bowe scored midway through the 1st period, and the Rangers never looked back on the way to a 5-1 victory on the road.

SUNDAY 3/4 - With the win on Friday, Sunday's game didn't matter as much as it did a few days prior to the contest. The Rangers fought hard, but dropped the regular season finale 4-2 to the Valley Jr. Warriors.
