Egbert Named EHL Goalie of the Month

TEWKSBURY, MA -- It was a big weekend for the Boston Jr. Rangers EHL team, as they picked up 2 huge wins against 2 worthy opponents from the South Conference. As of today (October 5th), the Rangers sit at the top of the Boston Division standings with a 5-1-0 record and they are currently ranked #2 in the latest set of EHL power rankings.

"The EHL team is playing well and feeling good right now," said Rangers EHL head coach and general manager Rich DeCaprio. "While we should definitely be proud of the hot start, there is still a lot of hockey left to be played. We need to remain focused, and keep striving to get better."

EHL

On Friday night, the Little Flyers traveled up to Tewksbury where they ran into a hot goaltender in Nolan Egbert, who stopped 25 out of 26 shots in the 4-1 victory for the Rangers. Daniil Ovchinnikov tallied two goals in the win, and he continues to turn heads across the league.

The next day, the defending EHL champion Philadelphia Jr. Flyers came to town, where they became the latest victim to a hot Rangers team. In net Egbert once again stood on his head, stopping all 23 shots that he faced, giving him his first shutout of the young season.

Following a fantastic month of September, Egbert was named a TSR Hockey Star of the Month by the EHL.

The EHL team will now go on the road this weekend for two games against both the Total Athletics Seahawks (Saturday) and the Connecticut Oilers (Sunday), before returning home on Columbus Day for a Boston Division matchup against the East Coast Wizards.

Flipping it over to the EHLP, the Rangers were handed a tough overtime loss against the Jr. Flyers on Saturday. However, the boys fought right back the very next day and picked up their first win of the season, beating the Walpole Express 8-2. With a record of 1-2-0, the Rangers are looking at two games with the New England Wolves next week to get back on the right track.
