1 Game Apiece Leads to 1 Win Apiece

TEWKSBURY, MA -- Both Rangers teams had a relatively quiet, but successful week as they each came away with wins against divisional opponents.

The EHL team took care of business on the road against the Total Athletic Seahawks this past Wednesday, beating them by a score of 4-1. The win brought their record up to 11-3-0 which puts them in 2nd place of the Boston Division, just 2 points behind the Walpole Express.

The EHLP squad won their only game of the week as well, with a 5-1 statement victory against the 1st place Vermont Lumberjacks. The win brings their record up to 8-1-2.

EHL

This past Wednesday, the Rangers traveled down to Hyannis, for a matchup with a fellow Boston Division rival, the Seahawks. This was meeting 2 of 6 on the schedule between the 2 teams this season, with the Rangers winning the first game in Hyannis by the score of 4-3 in overtime.

Luckily for the Rangers, this matchup would have a similar outcome. Mitchell Haight, scored his first goal of the season to give the Rangers a 1-0 lead in the 1st. Only 35 seconds went by before Jake Cagnina tallied another goal for the Rangers to put them up by 2. However, the Seahawks would get one back to make it 2-1 before the end of the frame. The Rangers would score the only goal of the 2nd period, coming off the stick of John Grealish to give the boys a 3-1 lead going into the final frame. In the 3rd Zach Norby would score less than a minute into the action and pad the lead as the Rangers would win by a final score of 4-1. Ben Parker had an impressive day in net, stopping 36 of 37 shots he faced in route to his 3rd win of the season.

EHLP

The EHLP squad welcomed the 1st place Lumberjacks to town this past Sunday where it was a matchup between the Northern Conference’s top 2 teams. The Lumberjacks would take the lead just 36 seconds into the game, however, it was quickly answered a few minutes later by Will Roberts for the Rangers. The score would remain 1-1 until the 2nd period, when the Steve Wesley found the back of the net on the odd man rush to put the Rangers up 2-1. Kyle Liesener would add another goal at the end of the period to put the boys up 3-1 heading into the final frame.

In the final 20 minutes, Wesley would put away another goal to pad the lead, followed up by Matt McPherson putting the game on ice, 5-1 in favor of the Rangers. The Rangers now sit just 6 points behind the Lumberjacks in the North Conference with 3 games in hand. Dean Kern, picked up his 5th win of the season bringing his record to a perfect 5-0-0 with a stellar GAA of 1.60.

Looking Ahead

The EHL team has a busy weekend ahead of them starting with a home-and-home series against the East Coast Wizards. The set of games will begin on the road this Friday afternoon at 1:00pm.
