EHL and EHLP Teams Set for Big Weekend

TEWKSBURY, MA -- Both Rangers teams have a busy weekend ahead, as they are each set for the second showcase weekend of the season. The EHL squad will head to Haverhill, MA and play the Philadelphia Little Flyers on Sunday, then turn around and face-off against the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers the next day. The EHLP squad on the other hand, will host the November showcase at Breakaway Ice Center. They will start with a game on Sunday against the Jr. Flyers, and finish with the New York Applecore on Monday.

"This is a big weekend for our guys," said Rangers EHL head coach and general manger Rich DeCaprio. "These are the weekends that we circle on the calendar at the beginning of the year, and now it's time for our teams to make some noise."

EHL

The second EHL showcase is set to start this weekend at the Haverhill Vally Forum, where the EHL squad will play a pair of games against two Mid-Atlantic Division opponents. Going into the weekend, the Rangers currently sit in 1st place of the Boston Division with a record of 14-4-0. On Sunday, the boys will square off against the Philadelphia Little Flyers at 6:40pm for the final game between the two teams in the regular season. In their first match-up, the Rangers took care of business in Tewksbury back in September, winning by a final score of 4-1. Daniil Ovchinnikov led the way with two goals in the victory. The Rangers were ranked one spot ahead of the 15-4-0 Little Flyers at #3 in the this week’s EHL Power Rankings.

Switching gears to Monday, the boys will face-off against the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers to wrap-up the season series between the two teams. The puck drop is scheduled for 10:50am as the Rangers will look for the another win this season against the defending EHL Champions. In the previous matchup, Nolan Egbet and the Rangers shutout the Jr. Flyers in route to a 4-0 win. Tyler Gardiner led the way with a pair of goals in the win, and both Ryan Tierney and Danny Sorabella collected three assists apiece. Egbert stopped all 23 shots he faced in the victory. The Jr. Flyers are slumping of late, losing six out of their last seven games, making it a good chance for the Rangers to capitalize and pick up some key points in the standings.

EHLP

The EHLP squad will host the second showcase of the season at Breakaway Ice Center this weekend. Going into the showcase, the Rangers sit in 2nd place in the North Conference with a record of 12-1-2. They will put their five-game winning streak on the line Sunday as they face-off against the 1st place Philadelphia Jr. Flyers (South Conference) at 3:05pm. The boys will look to avenge their overtime loss to the Jr. Flyers as they fell 3-2 back in the second game of the season. The Jr. Flyers lead the entire EHLP in points so far this season with a record of 15-1-1, making Sunday a huge test for the Rangers.

On Monday, the Rangers will look for the season sweep against the New York Applecore at 1:10pm.  The two teams played against each other in the Brewster Showcase, with the Rangers coming away with a 5-1 win. Danila Larionovs led the way with three points, as the Rangers outshot the Applecore 46-19 in the victory. The Applecore are currently on a two-game skid and sit in 7th place of the South Conference with a record of 4-11-0.
