Rangers Captain Joining Golden Bears this Fall

TEWKSBURY, MA -- The Boston Jr. Rangers are pleased to announce that Damien Dangueuger has committed to Western New England for the Fall of 2018. Dangueuger has been with the Rangers since the start of the 2015-16 season. The native of France spent that season and the first half of last year with the Rangers' EHLP team, and since then has been a key figure on the blue line for the Rangers' EHL team. The captain has 22 points in 43 games so far this year.

"Damien came to us 3 years ago and played on our Premier team," said Rangers EHL head coach and general manager Rich DeCaprio. "He’s the pure example of climbing the ladder of development. He went from being a depth D on our EHLP team, to the captain of our EHL team, and now will continue his development playing college hockey at a great school. His work ethic and leadership qualities are top notch. We are very happy for him."

DeCaprio talked about the development of his leader over the past few seasons, and that also includes representing his country at the World Junior Championships. The veteran defenseman took some time to reflect on his decision and thank all of those who helped him along the way.

“I am very excited to attend Western New England University next Fall," said Dangueuger. "I want to thank my family, Coach DeCaprio, Coach Blair, and my teammates who helped me grow into the person and player that I am. I’ve been with the Rangers for the past 3 years and I couldn’t have been any happier. I'm looking forward to being a part of the Golden Bears family for the next 4 years! Go Golden Bears!”

Dangueuger and the Rangers are in a tight battle for the Boston Division with the Walpole Express, and they will face their rival on Wednesday at Noon at the Tsongas Center on the campus of UMass Lowell. Following Wednesday's showdown, the Rangers will finish the regular season with five games, all of which will be played in the friendly home confines of the Breakaway Ice Center.
