Our commitment towards these goals is apparent in both investment and emphasis in the Breakaway Ice Center in Tewksbury, MA, and in the mix of its resources and offerings (on-ice skills, instruction, practice time, off-ice training and game play) made available to our players.

Established in 2008, the Boston Junior Rangers are based out of the Breakaway Ice Center in Tewksbury, Massachusetts. While the Rangers strive to compete for championships at all levels on a yearly basis, the primary goal of the organization is to develop its players to their maximum potential.

Formerly the Boston Red Rangers, the Junior Rangers were comprised of only youth teams until the Junior Program was established in 2012.

For their inaugural 2012-13 season, the Rangers top team competed in the Atlantic Junior Hockey League, before moving to the new Eastern Hockey League in the Fall of 2013. Now known as our EHL team, it has earned a playoff birth in all seasons in which it has competed, capturing the 2020 and 2022 Regular Season Championships. The team also won both the 2021 and 2023 EHL Playoff Championships.

Along with their on-ice success, the team has seen 130+ former players move on to compete at the collegiate level.

The Rangers Premier team has seen great success since its inception. It first competed in the Metropolitan Junior Hockey League (MET) for the first three seasons, making it to the league championship in all three of its first seasons, winning the league in 2015 and earning a trip to nationals. Following that championship, the team shifted to the Eastern Hockey League Premier where they would win the 2016 Playoff Championship in their first year, as well as in 2018 and 2022. They also won the league Regular Season for three consecutive years from 2018 to 2020.

Along with promoting 50+ of their players to the top team, the Premier team has also seen several of their players commit to play at the collegiate level, including two players committing to Division I programs.
