Haight to Serve as Assistant Captain for All-Star Team

TEWKSBURY, MA -- The 2019-20 EHL All-Star Week will get started tomorrow afternoon at 1:00pm, as Team EHL will hit the ice for an hour and a half practice session. Following tomorrow's practice, the rest of the weekly schedule includes campus tours, recruiting seminars, and of course, three exhibition matchups against NCAA Division III opponents.

The Rangers are the only team in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL) that will account for at least one forward, one defenseman, and one goaltender on this year's All-Star Team. A big reason why the term is sending three players to Team EHL, has a lot to do with the 8-1-0 stretch that the Rangers are currently on.

Coming out of the week off, the team will lean on their three All-Stars to help pick up right where they left off.

Connor Doherty

Doherty is in his first season with the Rangers, and to date, the '99 native of Lowell, MA has tallied 20 points in his first 11 games. It's worth noting that 19 of Doherty's 20 points have come during the recent nine-game stretch, in which the Rangers racked up the longest winning streak of the year so far in the EHL (eight games). Overall, when Doherty tallies at least one point, the Rangers are 8-1-0, and when he is held off the scoresheet, the team is 0-2-0.

Mitchell Haight

Moving back to the blue line, and Haight is part of a small group of three-year veterans on this year's All-Star Team. The 6'4" defenseman will serve as one of the team's assistant captains, and will be matched up against some of the top lines that Team EHL faces. Known as one of the best defensive-defensemen in the league, Haight was an easy candidate for a spot on this year's squad.

Billy Girard

Wrapping things up between the pipes, and Girard may have been the most unanimous of the three selections for the All-Star Team. After winning 14 games last season, the '99 native of Boca Raton, FL has already notched seven victories to his name so far this year. To go along with the wins, Girard sits at the top of the league charts for GAA (1.99) and save percentage (.940). The Team EHL coaching staff has hinted at Girard getting the nod for the first matchup of the week, Thursday night against Fitchburg State.
