EHL and EHLP Team Combine for 11 Straight Wins

TEWKSBURY, MA -- Both Rangers squad were back in action this past week, as the EHL squad won both of their matchups and extended their winning streak out to 8 games. After the two wins, the Rangers still sit in 1st place in the New England Conference with an overall record of 21-4-0. On the other end, the EHLP team took care of business in their lone game of the week and currently sit in tie for 2nd place in their conference with a record of 18-4-0.

EHL

On Friday afternoon, the EHL squad traveled to Bedford to kick off a home and home series against the East Coast Wizards. The Rangers already beat the Wizards twice this season, and were aiming for the season sweep this past weekend. After a scoreless 1st period on Friday, the Wizards got on the board first, but Christian Snyder notched his first goal of the season with Rangers just a few minutes later to even things up at 1-1. The game remained scoreless for the rest of regulation and headed into extra time where it only took Andrew Keith 32 seconds to give the Rangers the 2-1 win. Billy Girard was solid between the pipes, stopping 29 shots in the win. 

On Saturday night, Jack Blackwell gave the Rangers the early lead but the Wizards responded with a pair of quick goals not long after to take the advantage. However, near the end of the period Brent Rickett split the Wizards defensemen and finished off a highlight reel goal to knot the game up at 2-2. The Rangers came out strong in the 2nd, as both Jonah Nash and Christian Snyder found the back of the net to give the boys a 4-2 lead. Rickett added two more insurance  goals in the 3rd as the Rangers cruised to a 6-3 win. Girard stopped 33 shots for his league leading 16th win of the season.

EHLP

On Saturday afternoon, the EHLP squad faced-off against the Railers Jr. Hockey Club for the 4th time this season. The Rangers held a 2-1-0 record against their divisional opponent coming into the weekend and trailed them by 2 points in the conference standings. Ryan Bailey scored the game’s first goal on the power play near the halfway point of the first period. After the Railers tied the game up in the 2nd frame, Jackson Drysdale gave the Rangers back the lead just a couple minutes after. The back and forth action continued as the Railers tied the game up again in the 2nd but Johnny Malandruccolo made it a 3-2 game with a goal near the end of the frame. Javen Heidergott added some insurance in the 3rd as the Rangers won by a final score of 4-2. Logan Palmer stopped 31 shots for his 9th win of the season. 

Looking Ahead

Both Rangers squads are back in action this upcoming week with a busy slate of games ahead. The EHL squad will travel to a league-wide showcase and will play on both Wednesday and Thursday before heading back home for a pair of games this upcoming weekend.

The EHLP team on the other hand, is set to travel to Laconia on Saturday for a matchup against the New England Wolves at 6:30pm, followed by a game on Sunday afternoon in Newington against the Connecticut Chiefs at 12:45pm.

12:15 vs. New Hampshire Avalanche @ 1:00pm (Breakaway Ice Center)

Following this week's six total games, both Rangers teams will officially hit the winter break for the holidays.
