EHL Captain Set to Join Bengals this Fall

TEWKSBURY, MA -- The Boston Junior Rangers are pleased to announce that Connor Bizal has committed to Buffalo State for the fall of 2021. The 2000-born native of Elk River, MN is in his 2nd season with the Rangers, and in 72 career games in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL), Bizal has scored 45 goals and collected 42 assists to his name.

"Connor has been a great asset to our program the past 2 seasons not only on the ice, but as a leader off the ice and in the locker room," said EHL head coach and general manager Rich DeCaprio. "His character is top notch, and players gravitate towards his personality.  He is the first one to the rink, and the last one to leave. He’s put a tremendous amount of effort towards his development and I know he will have a great experience as a student-athlete playing college hockey in the great city of Buffalo!"

As DeCaprio mentioned, Bizal has been a true leader throughout his time with the Rangers, serving as one of the team's captains this year.  Bizal is the 2nd player in program history to choose Buffalo State, and the first to do so since 2014.

"I am so excited to play at Buffalo State next year," said Bizal. "I am blessed to be able to go to a school that has everything I am looking for, including an engineering major. I wouldn’t be able to take this next step if it wasn’t for the Rangers and the EHL. My two years with BJR have been incredible and I am so thankful to have been a part of this great organization. Coach DeCaprio has always trusted me and thrown me into every situation possible, which has helped me grow tremendously as a player. The culture at BJR is elite and we are expected to be our best in all areas of our lives every day. The EHL has done a great job giving us the resources to advance to college hockey and elevating the level of play each year, which should not go unnoticed. When I go to Buffalo this fall, I will be a better player, teammate, leader, and overall person thanks to what Coach DeCaprio and the Boston Jr. Rangers have done for me.”

With this commitment complete, Bizal will look to lead his team to their first EHL Championship. After seeing last year's playoffs cut short due to the interruption caused by the pandemic, Bizal and his current teammates are looking to finish off what this past season's team never got the chance to.
