TEWKSBURY, MA - Jack Schlifke, a forward for the Boston Jr Rangers, has committed to SUNY Fredonia for the fall of 2022.

Boston Junior Rangers’ Jack Schlifke has committed to SUNY Fredonia as the next step in his hockey career. The Penfield, NY native will be playing just over 100 miles away from home next season. As for the rest of this season, he has his eyes set on another championship title for the Rangers.

Jack gives a lot of credit to Boston as he has worn the red, white, and blue for the past 2 years. “BJR and the EHL have helped me a tremendous amount as far as exposure and development,” said Schlifke. “Playing for Coach DeCaprio has helped me become a more dynamic player as well as a better person.”

The Blue Devils are gaining a massive advantage on and off the ice. Teammates describe Jack as being a leader in the locker room that steps up throughout practices and games. Physically, he’s almost unstoppable. “When you’re 6’5” on the ice, there’s a different presence,” said Coach DeCaprio. “Most big players struggle to skate, but Jack is a very good skater for how big he is.”

Schlifke’s infectious positivity and build aren’t the only reasons Fredonia offered the forward a spot on their 2022 roster. His hockey IQ, intelligence in the classroom, and junior hockey experience created the perfect opportunity.

“Fredonia seemed like a perfect fit for me because the culture and structure is very similar to what we have here at BJR,” Schlifke explained. “It’s a tight knit community with a great hockey program and I felt very comfortable there when I visited." Jack will also be joining former teammates and BJR alumni Ryan Bailey and Johnny Malandruccolo.

“I’d like to thank my family, Coach DeCaprio, and all of my teammates over the years for helping me get to where I am today.”

Schlifke and the Rangers are looking to extend their 18-4-1 record on December 8th at home against the East Coast Wizards.
