EHL and EHLP Teams Hit the Ice in Pennsylvania

TEWKSBURY, MA -- Both Rangers squads hit the ice for a pair of games this past week as the EHL team lost two of hard fought battles to both the Connecticut Roguhriders and the New Hampshire Avalanche, while the EHLP team split their 2 games. Despite the losses, both Rangers team’s didn’t move anywhere in the standings as the EHL team still sits in 1st place of the Boston Division with a 26-7-0 record. The EHLP team on the other hand is sitting in 2nd place in the North Conference with a record of 23-2-2, and are just 2 points behind the 1st place Vermont Lumberjacks with 4 games in hand.

EHL

On Sunday, the EHL squad traveled down to Connecticut to complete their regular season series with the Connecticut RoughRiders. The Rangers won first matchup between the two teams at home earlier in the season, but Sunday was a different story. The RoughRiders scored the game’s first 3 goals and despite a late power-play tally from Zach Norby, the Rangers fell short by the final score of 3-1. Nolan Egbert was busy between the pipes stopping 40 shots in the losing effort.

The game against the New Hampshire Avalanche was scheduled for this past Saturday, but was cancelled due to inclement weather and moved to up to Monday. The Avalanche scored 2 quick goals at the start of the game to take an early 2-0 lead. Tyler Gardiner cut the lead in half for the Rangers, just under 15 minutes into the first frame. However, the 2nd period was all Avalanche as they scored 3 separate times to take a 5-1 lead. The Rangers couldn't convert on any chances in the final period as the Avalanche walked away with a 5-1 victory. Nolan Egbert stopped 30 out of 35 shots in the loss.

EHLP

The EHLP squad matched up against the Valley Jr. Warriors this past week for a pair of games with their division rival. On Friday, the EHLP squad traveled to the Haverhill Valley Forum to take on the Warriors. The Rangers had previously beaten the Warriors 3 separate times this season and Friday’s game wasn't much different. After a scoreless 1st period, the Warriors broke the tie just under 9 minutes into the 2nd frame. However, Eric Roberts would tie up the game less than 5 minutes later with a goal that was assisted by Kyle Welch and Cam MacKenzie. The Warriors would convert on another chance at the end of the period to take a 2-1 lead going into the final frame. It only took 35 seconds into the 3rd period for the Rangers to tie up the game with a power-play goal by Danila Larionovs. The game remained tied until Cam Roberts scored the game-winning goal for the Rangers on the power-play with just over 2 minutes remaining in the contest. Cam Bernard stopped 29 shots for the Rangers in the winning effort, improving his record up to 4-0-0 on the season.

Shifting gears to Sunday where the Rangers hosted the Warriors in the 5th matchup between the 2 division rivals. After a scoreless 1st period, the Warriors got on the board first with a goal just 27 seconds into the 2nd frame. Eric Roberts would answer for the Rangers with a power-play goal just around 2 minutes later to knot up the contest at 1 goal apiece. However, the Warriors would score the games' next 2 goals to take a 3-1 lead. Despite outshooting the Warriors 38-25 in the game, the squad couldn't come back and fell to their rival by a final score of 3-1.
