EHL and EHLP Squads Set for Final 15 Games

TEWKSBURY, MA -- Both Rangers squads went a combined 5-0-1 this past week, with the EHL team winning three of their four total games and the EHLP team taking both of their games at home against the Central Penn Panthers.

EHL

The Rangers EHL team got back on track this week, by winning three of their four total games and picking up seven out of a possible eight total points. Entering the week, the Rangers had dropped to 2nd in the Boston Division, after posting a below average record of 4-5-0 since the holiday break. However, the return of Mike McPherson has proven to be huge for the Rangers so far, as his presence has pushed the team back into the top spot in their division.

This past week, the offense came back to life with wins of 3-1 over the Warriors, 6-1 over the Seahawks, and 14-2 over the Wolves. Unfortunately the week did end on a sour note, in a 3-2 overtime defeat at the hands of the Wolves. Fortunately for the Rangers, there are six games left in the regular season, with five of them set to take place in the friendly home confines of the Breakaway Ice Center.

The final stretch will begin on Wednesday against the Walpole Express at the Tsongas Center on the campus of UMass Lowell. The Express are just two points back of the Rangers, with a pair of games in hand, and the two rivals will face-off for one final time in the regular season on February 28th. The remaining four matchups for the Rangers include a pair of games against the Vermont Lumberjacks, and individual battles with the East Coast Wizards and the Total Athletics Seahawks.

EHLP

With the pair of wins from this past weekend, the EHLP squad still sits in 1st place in the North Conference with a record of 31-2-2, which also happens to be the best record in the entire EHLP by four points. The team has recorded an insane 40 goals in their last four games and appear to be clearly heading into the right direction down the final stretch. The Rangers have nine games remaining this season that will all be played at home, starting with a three-game series with the 2nd place Vermont Lumberjacks this upcoming weekend. The Rangers are currently seven points ahead of the Lumberjacks in the North Conference with a game in hand and have a 4-0-0 record against their division rival this season. The remaining six games include a final matchup with the Valley Jr. Warriors and a weekend series with the Philadelphia Revolution the following week. There are also three final games against the Walpole Express, including a two-game weekend series ending March 4th to conclude the regular season. If the Rangers continue with the pace they are on, they will finish in 1st place in the conference and will host a Second Round playoff matchup against the winner of the Wolves vs. Warriors play-in game.
