The EHLP squad faced-off against the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers in the Championship Game yesterday morning. The boys went into overtime with the Jr. Flyers in both of their two regular season match-ups, losing the first one and winning the second. Sunday’s game got off to a bit of a rocky start for the Rangers as they trailed 2-0 going into the 1st intermission. Steve Wesley cut the lead in half at the 13:00 minute mark of the 2nd period, but the Jr. Flyers took back a two-goal lead just 36 seconds later. However, Kyle Welch stepped up big for the Rangers with a pair of goals just 1:25 apart to knot up the game at three goals apiece near the end of the 2nd frame. Everyone at Schneider Arena could feel the momentum shift to the Rangers in the 3rd period as they controlled play for most of the frame, outshooting the Jr. Flyers 10-5. The EHLP Forward of the Year and the TSR Top Performer of the EHLP Championship, Danilia Larionovs, notched the game-winning goal at the 8:17 mark of the period. Dean Kern made 26 total saves and held off the Jr. Flyers for the rest of the game with a few key saves at the end to help give the Rangers their second title in three years. Welch had himself a notable championship game with a two goals and two assists, while Steve Wesley collected a pair of points as well. 

The EHL squad dropped their first game of the round robin to the Philadelphia Little Flyers in overtime on Thursday night, but picked up a point in the process. The Rangers then fell to the Philadelphia Revolution on Friday night and were mathematically eliminated after the Revolution beat the Little Flyers on Saturday morning. The EHL squad finished the season with an overall record of 40-13-2.
