EHL Forward Set to Join Lancers this Fall

TEWKSBURY, MA -- The Boston Jr. Rangers are pleased to announce that Matt Roe has committed to Worcester State for the Fall of 2018. The '97 from Rochester, NY spent time with the Rangers at the EHLP level during the 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons. For the most recent campaign (2017-18), Roe re-joined the Rangers at the EHL level in early December. In 26 total games, Roe notched 11 points to his name.

"We are very happy for Matt," said Rangers EHL head coach and general manager Rich DeCaprio. "Matt played for our EHLP team, and then ended up playing for the Rochester Monarchs for a little over a year. When the NCDC wasn't what he was expecting, he came back and had a great remainder of the season with us, as we won the Boston Division. He will have a great 4 years at Worcester State!"

As DeCaprio mentioned, Roe's time with the Rangers began at the EHLP level, where he racked up 30 points in 57 career games. The '97 then returned home for a brief period, but ultimately decided to come back to the EHL, and was a key factor in the Rangers' successful 2017-18 season. It was a fun journey for Roe, and he is very happy that he came back to the Rangers.

"I'd like to thank Coach DeCaprio and Coach Blair. If you're looking to get to the next level and play college hockey, the Boston Junior Rangers organization is the best place to be."

Roe is heading to the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC), where he will square off against one of his teammates in Ryan Tierney, who is heading to Salem State this Fall. Also with Roe's commitment to join the Lancers, that makes it four years in a row that the Rangers have sent a player to Worcester State.
