TEWKSBURY, MA -- Both Rangers squads extended their winning streaks this past week as the EHL team took care of business in both of their matchups, and they remain at the top of the their division with a record of 10-5-1. The EHLP team also won both of their games, but still finds themselves 1 point behind the New England Wolves for the top spot in the conference. The EHLP team holds a mark of 11-2-1 and is currently riding an 8-game winning streak.

EHL

On Wednesday afternoon, the EHL team hosted the Connecticut Chiefs for the 1st of 2 matchups against the conference opponent this season. The Rangers wasted no time as Andrew Keith found the back of the net on a short-handed break just 5 minutes into the contest. Jonah Nash made it 2-0 around the 4-minute mark of the frame, with his 6th tally of the season. Danila Larionovs then extended the lead just a few minutes later followed by another goal from Keith, as the Rangers took a commanding 4-0 lead into the break.

The Chiefs responded with a goal early in the 2nd frame, but it was quickly answered by Nash to grab the 4-goal advantage right back. After a scoreless rest of the frame, the Rangers took a 5-1 lead into the intermission. Both Martin Pietraszek and Cam Roberts added 3rd period insurance goals as the Rangers won the game by a final of 7-2. Ben Parker stopped 24 shots in the winning effort.

The squad returned to action on Sunday and faced-off against the 10-2-0 Philadelphia Revolution. This matchup marked the 1st of 2 against the Mid-Atlantic Conference opponent. Go Uemura got things going early with a goal around the 14-minute mark of the 1st frame. However, the Revolution would respond on the power-play near the end of the period, to knot up the score at 1 apiece.

Keith then scored his second short-handed goal in as many games, to give the Rangers a 2-1 advantage in the final minutes of the 2nd period. The special teams continued to click for the Rangers as Zack Norby converted on the power-play to give the boys a 3-1 lead early on in the final frame. The Revolution would quickly respond with a power-play goal of their own just a few minutes later, cutting the deficit back down to 1, but it wasn’t enough as Nathan Young sealed the win with an empty-net goal in the final minute of play. Billy Girard was terrific between the pipes, stopping 35 shots in the win, earning himself TSR Hockey Goaltender of the Week honors.

The Express responded on the power-play later in frame to cut down the deficit, but it was short-lived as McPherson answered with a goal less than a minute later to push the lead back up to 4. Matt Orlando added another goal near the end of the frame as the Rangers took a 6-1 advantage into the final period.

The squad finished off the game strong with a trio of 3rd period goals and won the game by a final score of 9-1. Levi Hensley, Tanner Caldarola, and Jake Mecrones had the final 3 goals, as Bobby McCloskey stood tall in net, stopping 33 shots in the win.

The boys picked up right where they left off last game, as McPherson found the back of the net just 35 seconds into the contest. Mecrones then converted on the power-play later in the opening period to give the Rangers a 2-0 advantage.

However, the Express answered with a power-play goal in the 2nd frame to cut the deficit in half. The game remained scoreless until Luke Marsh found the back of the net in the 1st minute of the 3rd period to give the Rangers a 3-1 lead. Jake Brown would then add an insurance goal on the power-play near the end of the frame and the Rangers won by a final score of 4-1. McCloskey was solid in net yet again for the Rangers, stopping 36 out of 37 shots sent his way. The win was the 2000-born netminder's 6th of the season.
